How to Draw Trunks Sword Step by Step
D ragon Ball is a wildly popular series that has managed to resonate with audiences for a number of reasons. Dragon Ball features entertaining characters with unbelievable powers and serves as a satisfying example of a shonen series that lovingly fulfills staples of the genre while also trying to push the form of storytelling to new places.
The characters in Dragon Ball typically resolve their problems through martial arts, but there are a number of battles where swords play a major role. Anime and powerful swords have a longstanding history together and there are some important swords inDragon Ball.
11 Tao Pai Pai's Sword Learns About Goku's Strength The Hard Way
The original Dragon Ball is much more grounded in terms of the enemies Goku takes on. He faces many powerful humans and he's even prone to fighting with a weapon during these days, which becomes an abnormality in his adult years.
Tao Pai Pai is an exceptional assassin and one of the Red Ribbon Army's greatest assets . He faces off against Goku with a respectable blade, only for Goku's Nyoibo (aka the Power Pole) to shatter it during their first fight. Goku gets the same results when he fights against Red Ribbon's Murasaki and his Sasanishiki blade.
10 Yamcha's Saber Nearly Cuts Down Goku
Goku's fight against Yamcha at the start of the series marks the first timeDragon Ballshows off two martial artists going at it. Unlike in later fights, however, Goku and Yamcha both start out fighting with weapons – Goku using his trusty Nyoibo and Yamcha wielding a saber that he never uses again after the first story arc. While Yamcha and Goku ultimately fight to a draw, the Desert Bandit comes dangerously close to cutting Goku down; and likely would have if he didn't spot Bulma.
9 Gohan's Sword Beats His Fists When It Comes To Survival Training
Gohan experiences such huge development throughout Dragon Ball that it can be easy to forget the Saiyan actually had a sword of his own during his youth. Gohan is thrown into the deep end during his training with Piccolo while Goku's is in the afterlife.
Piccolo leaves a young Gohan to fend for himself, and his primary source of defense during this solitary period is a standard sword. Gohan uses the sword to his advantage and cuts up many dinosaur tails for sustenance, but it becomes an outdated form of combat for Gohan as he matures.
8 Yajirobe's Katana Is A Normal Blade That Saves The Day
Yajirobe ostensibly turns into glorified company for Karin as Dragon Ball progresses, but he was a competent samurai back in the original series. Before Yajirobe totally faded into obscurity, he played a significant role during the Saiyan arc .
Goku, Gohan, and Krillin all have to pool their efforts in different ways to beat Vegeta, but a crucial step is when Yajirobe slices off Vegeta's tail while he's a Great Ape. This is a massive tail, so both Yajirobe and his katana need to be strong enough to cleanly cleave through it.
7 Tapion's Brave Sword Gets Passed Down By A Legend
The Dragon Ball Z movies have a mixed reputation and while they don't necessarily mesh with the franchise's canon, they're still entertaining showdowns with new villains. The 13th Dragon Ball Z movie, Wrath of the Dragon, tries to unnecessarily connect some dots and answer questions, like where Future Trunks' sword came from.
Wrath of the Dragon introduces Tapion, a strong and mystical warrior who uses a formidable blade in his war against Hirudegarn. A young Trunks is gifted this weapon before Tapion's farewell, and it's shown to be a strong monster slaying tool.
6 The Z Sword Is A Valuable Training Tool For Gohan
There's an exciting period in Dragon Ball Z where Goku is largely out of the picture and it appears that Gohan will usurp him as the series' main character. Gohan goes through special training and receives a serious power boost during Majin Buu's reign of terror.
Gohan's training involves his proficiency with the Z Sword, which he breaks, but in doing so releases Old Kai and helps unlock the more important Ultimate upgrade . As a sword, the Z Sword clearly has its deficiencies, but in regards to the power that Old Kai possesses, it becomes a coveted tool.
5 Future Trunks' Sword Has Become The Warrior's Trademark Weapon
One of the most memorable character introductions in all of Dragon Ball is reserved for Future Trunks. He doesn't just easily eliminate Frieza and his father, he uses a very cool sword to do so. Future Trunks is an instantly entertaining character and he's an integral fighter against the Androids and Cell.
Curiously, Future Trunks' sword is presumably just a normal blade, but he's helped it become an iconic weapon. Trunks' sword isn't just window dressing and he proudly uses it when he's in battle. It's helped Trunks achieve a lot of important victories.
4 Dabra's Darkness Sword Is Aided By Sinister Magic
Majin Buu is a villain that brings with him some other deadly antagonists, like Bobbidi and Dabra. Dabra has a demonic appearance and his spit can turn people into stone. Dabra also shows that he can tap into the black magic that fuels Buu to produce a dangerous weapon.
Dabra's Darkness Sword is used against both Gohan & Majin Buu and while it would easily kill a normal human, it's not very effective against Buu. It's Dabra's ability to generate the blade out of nowhere that makes it something to watch out for.
3 Janemba's Dimension Sword Can Slice Through Time Itself
Fusion Reborn, the 12th Dragon Ball Z movie, introduced fan favorite fused fighter Gogeta. Gogeta is fun & all, but Janemba is a worthy villain to take him on and possesses a seriously dangerous sword. Janemba's Dimension Sword is able to freely slice through dimensions, open up portals, and even generate blasts that also cut through anything. It's truly dangerous. Janemba and his Dimension Sword debut in Fusion Reborn, but they've made return appearances in both Dragon Ball FighterZ and the new promotional anime series, Super Dragon Ball Heroes .
2 Super Saiyan Rosé Goku Black's Violent Fierce God Slicer Is The Top Energy Sword
One of the most exciting arcs in Dragon Ball Super is the Goku Black saga , which creates a genuinely engaging mystery over who this evil version of Goku is and what his true plan involves. Goku Black doesn't just steal Goku's body, he develops his own version of his techniques, like Super Saiyan Rosé rather than Super Saiyan Blue. Goku Black also generates energy weapons, like a foreboding scythe and a brutal blade known as the Violent Fierce God Slicer. It's an energy sword that nearly takes Vegeta's life before the heroes are able to regain the upper hand.
1 Future Trunks' Sword Of Hope Is The Earth's Savior From Zamasu
Dragon Ball usually lets Goku get the winning blow against the villains, which is why Future Trunks' supremacy against Goku Black and Fused Zamasu is such a satisfying surprise in the Dragon Ball Superanime. Fused Zamasu is half immortal and it doesn't look like any methods will be able to beat him, including the Mafuba or even Super Saiyan Blue Vegetto. The saving grace ends up being when Super Saiyan Rage Future Trunks channels all of his energy into his sword, turning it into a Genki Dama-like Sword of Hope and severing Fused Zamasu in two.
