Help naming baby--Names ending in "son"

Old 09-25-2008, 12:50 PM

Hey--we are expecting our second child and I am trying to come up with names that "go along with" my first child's. Her name is Addisyn and I want to find some names that end with "son"
I know of Mason and Carson and we are really leaning toward Emerson (sp like Emersyn) for a girl---but I need more! Can you think of any? Thanks!

Yeah--i guess I should have told you we call Addisyn "Addi" 80% of the time and I think Addi and Maddi might be to hard to tell apart--don't you?

I love Emerson (syn). Here's what I think of: Garrison, Harrison, Allisyn, Finnisyn, Larson, Carlson...hmm, you could make up alot of orginal names with "son"!

Benson, Jackson, Tyson, Jamison, and I can't think of a girls name!

I remembered one Alston, our art teacher (female)

Old 09-25-2008, 02:00 PM

Before I read your entire message, I was going to suggest Addison! I really like Emerson and thought of it for my child!
here are some

Garrison
Anderson (Andy & Addi)
Harrison
Emerson
Dawson
Ellison
Hudson
Jaxon
Jason/Jayson
Pierson

I know not many of them are girl names. I think it is because in the "old days" the ending of son means "son of ____".
I hope you find one you really like. Congrats on the new bundle of joy!

Does it have to have the "son" ending? You can still have the rhyme if you go with Kaitlyn or Jacqueline or Lauralyn, but if you're looking for that "son" ending then I guess you won't like those.

Kierson... I made it up no idea if that's a female/male!

Looks like you got a lot of boys names....(some could work for girls too)

How about some girl names (I made them up... I was bored...or maybe I just have never heard them before?)

Darcyn (nickname: Dari)
Kirsyn
Piersyn
Calsyn
Jaisyn ("Jason"...BUT it LOOKS pretty, so it could be a girl's name?)
Brensyn
Blazesyn (if she has red hair)
Marrisyn

More boy's names
Brycyn(Bryce+n...)
Nolesyn
Gibsyn
Jaysyn (Jason)

I'm sorry....I was bored... maybe one of them gave you an idea?
Personally I like Emersyn the Best!!!!

Good Luck!

something to try

Old 09-25-2008, 04:12 PM

Since the "son" ending comes from the Scandinavian countries where the child was named after the father (Lief Erickson was really Lief, son of Erick), could you use your husband's name or the name or nickname of a family member and add the "son" or "syn" to it?

Don't know if you could really make it work, but it may be worth a try.

My cousin and his wife named their son Graydon. I have taught for 15 years and have never heard that name in my life. It's very original. I like it, I guess. His middle name is Stone. Maybe my cousin and his wife are secret celebrities.

Lol, I saw someone made up Kierson--- I have a Kierson in my class.
(I skimmed through posts, I am probably repeating names?)

Kierson
Bryson
Anderson
Jayson
Payson
Jackson (Jack for short)
Matthison
Allison
Mason
Chanson (Chance for short)

and others I don't like as much, but that's just mel:
Samson
Harrison
Madison

yeah, basically just add son to everything. I could probably sit here all day making some up.

Peyton

Old 09-26-2008, 05:08 AM

It's not "son," but Peyton is a nice name. I suppose it (or another spelling of it) might work for a boy or a girl.

Madison has always been a favorite of mine, but not with a sister named Addisyn!

Edison is also very distinguished, imho

Have fun!

I came across this for my own search on -son names for my second child. I named my daughter Emerson after Ralph Waldo Emerson and have seen it grow in popularity 3x fold. Wondering if you went with Emerson or another name.

I have 2 grandsons named Jackson and Hudson, the third boy is coming in a few months, and we hate to break the cycle. I like Carlson and Wilson my husband likes samson. Fun to see all the names ending in son

I have 2 other grandaughters whose names are Emerson Lee and Elliott flynn (yes they are girls)

Old 08-31-2009, 06:06 AM

I am having # 3... My daughter is Maddison, my little guy is Carson, and I was thinking Emmerson for a girl or Jaxson for a boy. So I just wanted to let you know I love the names!!!

Old 09-23-2009, 08:27 PM

I have 3 children...Madison, Jackson and Emerson...Emerson is a boy. I personally think it is a very masculine name. He is named after my great great Grandfather Emory as Emerson means son of Emory.
It saddens me that I've had this name picked out for my son, its in all of the baby name books under boys and since Terry Hatcher was on Desperate Housewives and became famous again, her daughter Emerson has changed the gender of the name. Just my personal opinion.
Good luck with your baby, but I say if its a BOY you should name him Emerson. Its a strong name and he is certain to be born with great character.

I've got some
